Studio Policies

Private lessons are based on the student’s needs, interests, and readiness.

Lesson Scheduling

  • Lesson scheduling is based on the local school year calendar and summer break.
  • Make-up and or additional lessons can be scheduled during any scheduled opening.
  • Students who arrive late will have a lesson based on the time remaining in their regularly scheduled lesson
  • Students are expected to attend each lesson on the day/time that has been reserved for them.
  • If your normal teacher is not available, we will do our best to provide a qualified substitute teacher to complete the lesson. Lessons cannot be rescheduled if a substitute teacher is provided.
  • If you need to discontinue lessons, a 2-week notice is required. Failure to provide this will result in the student being charged for the following month.
  • If you choose to take a break from lessons for more than two weeks, your lesson time will be forfeited.  We are unable to guarantee lesson times to students who are not currently active in the studio.

Lesson Materials

  • Please make sure to bring all materials (song books, lesson books, theory books, etc.) to your lesson.  Every attempt will be made to provide a lesson if materials are absent, but there will be a chance the lesson cannot be completed (Dependent upon level, current work, etc.) Payment is still due should we be unable to give a lesson because of missing material(s).

Performance Opportunities

  • We offer a variety of performance opportunities throughout the year. These events are optional, but participation is encouraged.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why am I charged for a lesson even if I give one week's notice that my student will be absent?

A: Think of signing up for lessons as a weekly commitment to your teacher. When you are absent--even if you give one week or more notice--your teacher will still be at the studio at your scheduled lesson time. As such, you are charged for that time commitment to your teacher. However, when you do give us at least one week's notice of an absence, we will do everything in our power to reschedule your lesson and make sure you and your teacher get the most time possible to work on your music!

Q: What if my student misses a lesson because they are sick?

A: If your student is absent from a lesson due to an illness, you are still responsible for paying for that lesson time (see above). However, we do realize that illnesses happen at inconvenient and unpredictable times. With that in mind, please contact us and let us know about the absence as soon as you can and we will do our best to reschedule that lesson for you.

Q:  What if my student needs to take a break from lessons?  Can we reserve our same lesson time?

A:  If you need a specific lesson time, but are planning on taking a break, the only way to reserve that time is to continue to pay for lessons, even though the student is not attending.  We continually receive inquiries from new students and cannot hold lesson times open that otherwise could be filled.
