Studio Policies

Private lessons are based on the students’ needs, interests, and readiness.

Lesson Scheduling

  • Lesson scheduling is based on the local school year calendar and summer break.
  • Make-up and or additional lessons can be scheduled during any schedule opening.
  • Students who arrive late will have a lesson based on the time remaining in their regularly scheduled lesson
  • Students are expected to attend each lesson on the day/time that has been reserved for them.
  • If your normal teacher is not available, we will do our best to provide a qualified substitute teacher to complete the lesson. Lessons cannot be rescheduled if a substitute teacher is provided.
  • If you need to discontinue lessons, a 2-week notice is required. Failure to provide this will result in the student being charged for the following month.
  • If you choose to take a break from lessons for more than two weeks, your lesson time will be forfeited.  We are unable to guarantee lesson times to students that are not currently active in the studio.

Lesson Fees and Payment

  • Vocal lessons are $30 per 30 minute lesson and all other lessons are $20 per 30 minute lesson.
  • Lesson payment is due in full at the time of service.
  • Payments may be made by cash, check (made out to Brennan's Music Studio) Venmo, PayPal, bank transfer, or online via credit card (2.9 convenience fee).
  • For those wishing to schedule reoccurring lessons - Payment is expected by the first lesson of each month for all scheduled lesson times included during that month.   Students at the Doubletree and Knapton studios will be able to schedule three (3) lessons off (1 per quarter; (Sept-Nov; Dec-Feb; March-May)) during the school year schedule and one (1) lesson off during the summer schedule (June-Aug) without required payment.  Because of the additional scheduled days off for school, the quarterly excused policy will not apply to the St. Matthew's Lutheran School Studio.  PAYMENT IS REQUIRED FOR ANY ADDITIONAL MISSED LESSONS.
  • A $10 late fee will be assessed for all late payments.  Payments are considered late if not received by the 2nd lesson of the month.
  • There are no refunds for missed or unused lessons.
  • Lesson fees are non-transferable

Cancellation Policy

  • Please be advised there is a 24 hour cancellation policy for all lessons.  The full rate will be charged for all lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice prior to the scheduled lesson start time.  Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hour notice cannot be rescheduled.
  • Regardless of circumstances, lesson cancellations must be done in writing via email or text ONLY or lesson fee will be forfeited. Contact information is found on your student portal.
  • There are no refunds for missed or unused lessons.
  • Lessons cancelled with more than 24 hours noticed may be rescheduled 30 days before or after the original lesson date and the full payment may be applied to the new lesson time.

Holidays

  • We will be closed for the following holidays and students will not be charged for lessons that would have normally occurred on these holidays.
    • Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the day after, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, and the 4th  of July.
    • We will not hold lessons the week of Christmas Day through New Year’s Day.

Inclement Weather:

  • We follow the Milton School District for closing notifications.  If the weather is too severe to safely travel for your lesson, students have the option to take their lesson over RockOutLoud.

Lesson Materials

  • Please make sure to bring all materials (song books, lesson books, theory books, etc.) to your lesson.  Every attempt will be made to provide a lesson if materials are absent, but there will be a chance the lesson cannot be completed (Dependent upon level, current work, etc.) Payment is still due should we be unable to give a lesson because of missing material(s).

Performance Opportunities

  • We offer a variety of performance opportunities throughout the year. These events are optional, but participation is encouraged.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why am I charged for a lesson even if I give one week's notice that my student will be absent?

A: Think of signing up for lessons as a weekly commitment to your teacher. When you are absent--even if you give one week or more notice--your teacher will still be at the studio at your scheduled lesson time. As such, you are charged for that time commitment to your teacher. However, when you do give us at least one week's notice of an absence, we will do everything in our power to reschedule your lesson and make sure you and your teacher get the most time possible to work on your music!

Q: What if my student misses a lesson because they are sick?

A: If your student is absent from a lesson due to an illness, you are still responsible for paying for that lesson time (see above). However, we do realize that illnesses happen at inconvenient and unpredictable times. With that in mind, please contact us and let us know about the absence as soon as you can and we will do our best to reschedule that lesson for you.

Q:  What if my student needs to take a break from lessons?  Can we reserve our same lesson time?

A:  If you need a specific lesson time, but are planning on taking a break, the only way to reserve that time is to continue to pay for lessons, even though the student is not attending.  We continually receive inquiries from new students and cannot hold lesson times open that otherwise could be filled.
